Situated in northeast Westchester Region and surrounding Connecticut, the Community of Lewisboro consists of the communities of Cross River, Golden’s Bridge, South Salem, Waccabuc, View and Lewisboro.

The community was created as “Salem” in 1747, when European inhabitants bought land around what is currently South Salem. With completion of the 18th Century and start of the 19th Century, the community was called Reduced Salem, and afterwards South Salem.

In 1840, the community was relabelled after sponsor John Lewis, after he developed a fund for the assistance of public education and learning in the community. At the time of the 2020 demographics, the populace of the community was 12,265.
